Initial Inspection
Our trained technicians will inspect your home or business to locate any conducive pest conditions and identify the conducive conditions and/or harborage areas.
Pest Control WV will determine the treatment method based on location and findings during the inspection. Time and Cost depends on infestation levels and customer intervention.
Cockroach Treatment
Pest Control WV will Treat and set monitors in areas that we suspect the roaches are established/travel in order to determine infestation levels and additional harboring areas as well as treatment effectiveness between visits.
This information helps us to effectively manage cockroaches quicker than Non-IPM approaches. We have many treatment options available to help work to eliminate even the toughest German Cockroach infestations in hard to access areas.
Follow Up/Monitoring
When we have determined the presence of German Cockroaches in a certain location such as inside wall voids, or cracks and crevices, we will perform spot treatments.
In addition to monitoring effectively, our technicians with flush the cockroaches out of hiding to lower the level of infestation and drive out other possible infestation areas. We will utilize multiple modes of action to ensure all life cycles are treated and long lasting residual is applied.
Stress Free Guarantee
Pest Control WV guarantees their work. We continually evaluate our technicians, tools, products and methods to ensure we are competing with the industry's best available on the market.
In addition, we offer a Residential Pest Assessment or Commercial Pest Assessment add on which can be purchased at a discount and conducted during treatment. Pest Assessments give you the knowledge to prevent future pest outbreaks through maintenance and physical intervention.
German Cockroach Solutions for Your Home & Business
Cockroaches in the home are never a good sign. Since there are a few different species of cockroaches local to our area, we always like to schedule a Free Inspection in order to identify the species and provide the following steps for elimination.

German Cockroach (Blattella germanica): Small, light brown with two dark stripes behind the head. They are the most common indoor species, preferring warm, humid areas like kitchens and bathrooms.
GERMAN COCKROACH CONTROL IN WEST VIRGINIA
The German cockroach is the most common — and most difficult — cockroach species to eliminate. Unlike outdoor roaches that wander inside, German cockroaches live and breed exclusively indoors. A single female and her offspring can produce over 30,000 cockroaches in a year, which is why early, aggressive treatment is essential.
IDENTIFYING GERMAN COCKROACHES
German cockroaches are light brown to tan, about 1/2 to 5/8 inch long, with two parallel dark stripes running from behind the head to the wings. They prefer warm, humid areas near food and moisture. Despite having wings, they rarely fly.
HOW GERMAN COCKROACHES ENTER YOUR HOME
- Used appliances (microwaves, toasters, coffee makers) that harbor egg cases
- Grocery bags and cardboard boxes from warehouses or stores
- Moving boxes and secondhand furniture
- Gaps around plumbing under sinks and behind dishwashers
- Shared walls and utility conduits in apartments and multi-unit housing
WHERE TO INSPECT
German cockroaches stay close to food and moisture. Key inspection points: inside and behind the stove and oven, under the refrigerator and dishwasher, inside cabinet hinges and drawer slides, under the sink, and inside electrical outlet boxes in the kitchen. In bathrooms, check under the vanity, behind the toilet, and in wall voids near plumbing.
HOMEOWNER PREVENTION TIPS
1. Inspect all used appliances and cardboard boxes before bringing them indoors.
2. Clean behind and under appliances regularly — grease buildup is a primary food source.
3. Store food in sealed, hard-sided containers and never leave dishes in the sink overnight.
4. Empty trash cans daily and keep them tightly lidded.
5. Fix any leaking pipes under sinks immediately — even minor drips sustain a colony.
6. Seal gaps around all plumbing penetrations with caulk.
WHY OVER-THE-COUNTER PRODUCTS FAIL
German cockroaches develop resistance to pesticides quickly. Spraying exposed roaches does little to reach the population hiding in wall voids and appliance interiors. Gel baits are highly effective — but must be placed correctly and in the right quantity. Improper bait placement or contamination with other pesticide sprays renders them ineffective or drives the population to unexposed areas.
HOW WE TREAT GERMAN COCKROACHES
Our technicians begin with a full assessment to gauge the severity of the infestation and locate all harborage areas. Treatment typically involves targeted gel bait placement, growth regulator application (which prevents nymphs from reproducing), and crack-and-crevice treatments. A follow-up inspection is scheduled to confirm elimination. Please review our German Cockroach Prep Sheet before treatment — proper preparation dramatically improves outcomes.

- Oriental Cockroach (Blatta orientalis): Dark brown to black, often called "water bugs" due to their preference for damp, cool areas.
- Brown-Banded Cockroach (Supella longipalpa): Smaller, brownish, and prefer warmer, dry locations like upper cabinets or electronics.
- Pennsylvania Wood Cockroach (Parcoblatta pensylvanica): Light brown and common in wooded areas, frequently brought in with firewood.

Did you Know?
Did you know, just a single female German cockroach can produce 5–8 egg cases, each containing up to 40 eggs, leading to a massive number of new roaches in a short period. Within a year populations can grow to potentially 30,000 offspring. These pests reproduce so quickly leading to pesticide resistance and unsuccessful DIY methods.
