Pest Monitoring and Control Devices
Some pest programs use devices to monitor activity, catch pests early or keep control work contained. This page explains what those devices do in plain language.
Emergency or damaged device?
If a child, pet or adult may have contacted or eaten material from a pest control device, seek medical or veterinary help immediately and call the National Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222. Then contact Pest Control WV so we can identify the device and provide the current label information.
If a device is open, broken, missing or in the way, please do not move or repair it yourself. Text us at 304-TXT-PEST and we will check it.
Fly lights
Fly lights use light to draw flying insects to a contained capture surface. They help reduce activity indoors and give the technician useful monitoring information. They are often used in restaurants, kitchens, care facilities, warehouses and other sensitive spaces where routine monitoring matters.
Exterior fly stations
Exterior fly stations are placed outside where fly pressure starts, such as near dumpsters, service doors, loading areas or waste handling points. They are part of a broader program that also includes sanitation, exclusion and monitoring.
Mosquito monitoring and control stations
Some mosquito programs use stations to target mosquito development in outdoor areas. These stations should not be opened, moved or emptied by anyone other than the technician.
Rodent stations
Rodent stations are locked, tamper-resistant devices used for monitoring or control around a structure. The station location is part of the program, so please leave it where it is unless your technician moves it.
Interior monitors and multi-catch devices
Interior monitors help show whether insects or rodents are active in a specific area. Multi-catch devices can be useful in warehouses, food facilities and other commercial spaces where activity must be documented and corrected quickly.
Why devices matter
- They help catch problems while they are small.
- They give a technician evidence instead of guesswork.
- They reduce the need for broad treatments.
- They create records that help commercial accounts stay inspection-ready.
