What's this Device?

Fly Light

Our fly lights are equipped with UV light to attract flying insects. These insects are then trapped on the disposable glue board, allowing your technician to accurately monitor activity and take action when needed.

These fixtures are often paired with other methods of IPM in order to effectively control flying insects in an enclosed space.

Please do not attempt to touch these light fixtures or remove the glue boards yourself. If they are in any way not functioning properly, need cleaned, or are damaged, please click on the button above to let us know. We appreciate your help.

Flying Pest Devices

Typically Part of an Integrated Pest Management Plan.

Locations: You will find our Fly Bait Stations located around the perimeter of structures on the property. These devices are typically mounted to the structure around shoulder height. Fly lights will be inside of structures, typically around shoulder height or slightly higher depending on individual application. They are found near kitchens, back rooms, common areas, entrances and exits etc. Mosquito stations are typically found around the property similar to rodent stations. However, Mosquito stations are not limited to the immediate structure, they may be near bushes or other areas in order to more effectively control the target pests.

About: With the exception of Fly lights, these devices typically contain a Low-Toxicity Bait that is designed to be consumed by target pest species within the stations order to establish control around the structure of the target pest. Fly lights are inside in order to catch the physically remove the flies that have entered the building. In some cases, fly bait stations can be used inside, depending on the bait used in the application. However, fly lights are recommended.

Life Cycle: The outside devices are weather resistant and can last many years with proper maintenance. Our technicians clean and service these boxes regularly during scheduled service visits to ensure maximum effectiveness and security.

The fly lights are more effective when mounted within reach of an average human, given its about should height and up. These lights are most effective when placed in flies "fly zone". This often times makes them susceptible to damage from accidents or bumps in public spaces. To avoid such accidents, Pest Control WV will aim to find safe and effective positioning of the Fly light in your building.

Damages: If there is any damage to the devices, your technician will assess the damages on their next visit and determine if replacement is necessary. These devices are subject to a replacement fee if they are damaged on customer property.

Control: Pest Control WV utilizes these devices and other methods in order to effectively control the target species of flying pest.

Do not attempt to touch any of the devices. Please give us a call if you have any issues with these devices or need to request service or replacement.

What type of fly do you have?

The species of fly matters. From house flies, to Blow Flies, to Cluster flies, Fungus Gnats, Fruit Flies, and Drain Flies and more...

All flies are not equal, and they are present for different reasons. Part of Integrated Pest Management is locating that reason (the source) and addressing the root cause, while using monitors, traps, and pesticides if necessary to eliminate the current populations and prevent breeding.

Why is Flying Insect Control Beneficial?

When enrolled in a Mosquito Plan or Pest Maintenance Plan with Fly Services added on, you will see ongoing results. This is due to the ongoing property maintenance, the exterior bait stations we are placing around the structure in which helps to control target flies and/or mosquitos, and the interior monitoring and/or devices and pest control peformed on a regular schedule.

Flies seek entrance to structures typically for Food, Water or Sheltering/Overwintering purposes. Over time, structures tend to degrade, and start to crack, or gap in areas without proper maintenance or just too much moisture exposure for too long, especially around doors and windows. However, these gaps can form at roofing edges, and flashing, around chimneys etc.

Fly activity can be detrimental to an attic or crawlspace, especially when left un-addressed to continue season after season. Flies can carry many diseases. They can also cause a nuisance in public buildings or homes by reproducing, and then attempting to flock to windows or (light sources) to escape, only to die of starvation causing a large pile of flies to clean. The cycle repeats until the breeding areas are addressed with proper inspection and treatment.

Pest Control WV will help to assess your structure and develop an assessment in order to empower you (the owner or resident) with the knowledge to fix or maintenance the areas that may give entry or potentially even be inviting to flies or other pests.

When you hire Pest Control WV, we are consistently vigilant against flying and other pests. Every visit, we are visually inspecting your property and keeping a watchful eye for those insects or critters that may be trying to move in or find access. We've got your back. Our technicians are certified and engage in ongoing education to keep up with the latest products and methods of pest control, so you can rest assured you have the best exterminator for the pests.
